Today we’re pleased to announce that after much neglect, our brand new site design is live at http://www.chestertondevelopment.com.

New Homepage Design

Our new home page

We scrapped our old design and started completely fresh and we’re extremely pleased with the result, the only thing remaining from the old design is our logo and even that’s been modified. We’ve outlined some of our favourite changes below.

Scrolling Email Address

One of our main goals when creating the site was to make it as easy as possible for prospective clients to contact us, which meant showing our email address as prominently as possible. We placed it adjacent to our logo near the top of the page, clearly visible to all. However, as soon as you scrolled a little, you could no longer see it.

We decided early on to make our navigation bar static as you scroll, it’s not a feature often seen and we think it works well for our site. We came up with the idea of putting the email address in the navigation bar, but only when it’s no longer visible on the page. It’s a feature many users will probably miss, but it brings a little extra functionality and even a little fun to the page.

Better Portfolio

Not better portfolio work of course, but we’ve changed the way our portfolio is shown. Previously, you had to click a small thumbnail or visit the portfolio page to view larger images and descriptions. Now you’re presented with one of our projects straight away with the ability to view other projects on the same page with just a single click.

This Blog!

It’s been our intention for a long time to launch a blog but client work just keeps getting in the way – pesky clients! We’re pleased to finally create a blog, we’re aiming to update it often (famous last words!) and you can subscribe to our RSS feed or follow our Twitter account to find out about new posts.

It’s been a long time coming – we had created code to show the latest posts in the footer on our last redesign! – but we hope to share some more information about us as a company, our work, code and design ideas and any projects we have on the go.

The blog is using an awesome theme by Benoit Burgener, we may change it in future but at the moment we’re happy with it.
